
Eliza has a passion for helping
people achieve their highest healing purpose. Her goal is to help you achieve
a spiritually connected, emotionally balanced, and physically thriving life.
Eliza received a BA in Medical Anthropology and Sociology at Earlham College,
and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM)
from The New England School of Acupuncture in 2001. Eliza is licensed by
the Board of Registration in Medicine of Massachusetts, and is a board-certified
Diplomate of the National Commission for Certification in Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine. She has done extensive post-graduate clinical training
with Kiiko Matsumoto, founder of the acupuncture program at Harvard Medical
School.
Eliza is trained in Traditional Chinese, Japanese, 5 element, Scalp, Auricular,
Kiiko, Korean, and LASER styles of acupuncture. She is committed to the
integration of Traditional medicine and Western medicine. To that end she
combines the latest technology and research with traditional wisdom to form
a coherent, safe and optimally effective clinical style.
Eliza is one of very few certified practitioners of LASER Acupuncture in
Massachusetts.
Eliza has a decade of clinical and research experience and success in the
area of Women’s health and infertility.
Eliza has worked for the last ten years with Olympic Athletes, marathoners,
triathletes, professional athletes and laypeople in the area of Sports medicine,
and acute and chronic pain. She studied with the official Acupuncturist
of the US rowing team as a post-graduate to further her understanding of
Sports Medicine and Musculo-skeletal Pain and injury.
Eliza regularly participates in advanced study and research in Alternative
Medicine , Acupuncture and Nutrition to better offer her patients the most
advanced and effective therapies.
Eliza also draws on her years of experience as a gourmet nutritional Chef
to offer her patients practical solutions and dietary counseling to supplement
their treatment plans.
Eliza Mellen-Smith is a natural teacher and considers education to be an
essential dimension of the healing process. She enjoys public speaking and
giving workshops and has written a number of articles on alternative health
and nutrition for various publications.
Eliza is a wife and mother of two lovely and lively Boys.
